The Macdonald Inchyra Hotel & Spa is a traditional Scottish manor house situated on the outskirts of Falkirk and Grangemouth. Just off Junction 5 of the M9 motorway, this hotel offers a spa and a steakhouse for guests to enjoy. Our stay was comfortable, with a comfy bed and a great pool and bar area. Unfortunately, the restaurant experience was disappointing as the steaks were not as expected and the deserts were tiny and bland. Service in the bar was slow and the bedrooms need an update. The hotel is close to the oil refinery, so you may get the odd whiff, but other than that, the stay was comfortable and enjoyable.

Macdonald Forest Hills Resort is set in the picturesque town of Aberfoyle, offering stunning views of the surrounding area. All rooms come with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, private bathrooms, and a fitness centre. The resort also features a sauna, pool, and a football pitch. Unfortunately, the condition of the apartments is a let down, with old carpets, stained leather sofas, cobwebs, and non-working appliances. However, the resort's new General Manager has refunded 50% of the holiday cost due to the issues experienced. With the potential for renovation, this resort could be the perfect place to stay for a Scottish getaway, with water sports just across the road and plenty of shops nearby.

The rooms are spacious and clean, equipped with all the necessary amenities. The hotel staff are professional, polite, and accommodating. The food and drinks are a bit pricey, but the breakfast and dinner options are varied and delicious. Unfortunately, due to the current situation, alcohol is not served except for in room service. Despite some issues with the hospitality, it remains a great place to spend a quiet, relaxing holiday.
