  • Mercure Barnsley Tankersley Manor Hotel

    Barnsley - South Yorkshire

Tankersley Manor Hotel is a 4-star hotel ideally located for visiting Barnsley, Sheffield and the Peak District. The hotel still retains much of its original 17th-century character, with beautiful oak beams throughout. After a day exploring, guests can relax in the lounge before a meal in the restaurant. Unfortunately, recent reviews suggest that the hotel has gone downhill in recent years, with outdated and scratched furniture, and a limited menu of pub food. Furthermore, the reception staff have been reported as being rude and dismissive. The breakfast is a grab and go bag, with an additional charge for those who booked inclusive of breakfast. The rooms are clean and tidy, however the service is lacking, making for a less than satisfactory stay.

Despite the friendly and helpful staff, some guests have had unfortunate experiences with other guests and issues within the rooms. Although the location is great, central and easy to get to, the rooms may not have the comfort and amenities that are expected from a 4-star hotel. However, the staff are willing to go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant stay.

  • Mercure Sheffield Kenwood Hall & Spa

    Sheffield - South Yorkshire

Kenwood Hall is a 4-star hotel in 12 acres of stunning grounds located 1 mile from Sheffield city centre. It offers free on-site parking and a well-equipped leisure club, including an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and spa bath. Unfortunately, the hotel has seen better days, with many features such as the bathroom and mattresses showing signs of wear, and being difficult to reach over the phone. The room we stayed in had a supposed view, but it was of an outdoor area overgrown with brambles and full of trash. The buffet breakfast is full of unnecessary plastics, and the hallway alarm went off at 23:15 and again at 3am. It's certainly not worth the price we paid, and we wouldn't recommend it.
