Lakeside Country Guest House is a unique and special place to stay. Nestled in front of Bassenthwaite Lake with stunning mountain views, it's the perfect spot to explore the Lake District. Our hosts, Karen & Tim, were welcoming and accommodating, providing us with a warm and cosy room (No.1) and all the amenities we needed. Breakfast was a highlight, with fresh ingredients cooked to perfection, including vegetarian options. The laminated information sheets about local walks and hikes were a nice touch. The Guest House is perfectly located between Keswick and Cockermouth, with plenty of parking, and plenty of restaurants and pubs within a 5-10 min drive. We had a wonderful three night stay, and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. A perfect antidote to the Covid crazy world!

From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed by hosts Dave and Glenis, who are knowledgeable about the area. Rooms are tastefully decorated and impressively spacious with a luxury shower room. Everything you need is provided, including a hospitality tray with fresh milk and water, toiletries, a corkscrew, shoeshine kit and sewing kit. The beds are comfortable and the linen, duvets, pillows and towels are of good quality. Covid-19 protocols are followed during breakfast, which is a delicious and piping hot cooked breakfast. The village of Cockermouth is just 10 seconds away and it is filled with characterful pubs and restaurants. My husband and I stayed here and it was an exceptional experience.
