    The County is a charming village pub with beautiful accommodation in Newton Aycliffe. It has a garden, shared lounge, terrace and restaurant, and is 43 km from Beamish Museum. The guest room is exquisitely decorated with a big comfortable bed, and a walk-in wardrobe leading to a large bathroom with a powerful shower. The restaurant serves delicious meals such as steak and ale pie and perfectly cooked lamb. The bar is busy with friendly locals and the breakfast is equally as good as the evening meal. The staff are friendly and professional, and there is a large private car park at the back. The attic rooms are small but nicely equipped and the breakfast, although not included in the price if booked directly with The County, is delicious with lots of choice. Altogether a great stay; would definitely recommend and return!

    Tudhoe Park House is a beautiful, refurbished bed and breakfast located 22km from Beamish Museum. Richard and Anita, the hosts, offer a warm and friendly welcome, with special touches like homemade shortbread, bottles of Prosecco and chocolates. The room is comfortable and spacious, with a modern bathroom, and the attention to detail for comfort is appreciated. Breakfast is delicious, with plenty of choice and excellent presentation. It is a convenient location for Durham and Bishop Auckland, and there is a local pub for evening meals. The hosts are attentive but never intrusive and make you feel at home. Highly recommended.
